Lutheran Braille Workers needed a website that was standards compliant, easy to update and a simplified ordering process for braille literature. Building the site on WordPress as the content management allowed for a move away from the prior build: a static website constructed with non-user friendly frames – and now the site content is presented through an XHTML layout = significantly more accessible. The order process used to require a lengthy process through a broken shopping cart, now a single page form allows the team to more efficiently server those who request braille literature.
Note:
As of February 2010 this site was redesigned with a non-WordPress site. The thumbnails viewable here are no longer representative of what presently displays on the LBWINC.ORG website. Enjoy the view of what was a functioning WordPress website with the screenshots here.
Key functionality of the new site:
- Clean XHTML Layout consistent throughout the entire site
- Easy to navigate, single page order form
- Enable LBW staff to upload and publish quarterly PDF newsletter
- Optimize all the above for search engine friendliness and real people interaction
- Design and implement custom email newsletter

The screenshots DO look amazing. You must have put a lot of time in such sites that have to be completely standards compliant. Too bad another CMS is used now.
Roosendaai, thanks for the compliments – appreciated! RE: Standards and web design – certainly worth the effort when accessibility is a priority
(And when is it not?)
Thanks again for the note!
