So, you’ve heard of it, maybe even tried it out. Why would anyone want to use delicious for bookmarks anyway? Here’s a few of my own “why’s”
- Access: You can access all your favorites from any computer – simply add your user name to the
link. And, adding favorites couldn’t be easier: to make adding favorites to your account easy there is a “post to delicious” button for your browser. Browse like normal, find a site you like, click the “post to delicious” button.
Sharing: You can share your favorites very easily – simply tell your friend where your favorites are found. (i.e. http://deli.icio.us/griffhome)
Research: When you are looking for sites about postmodern mission, consider looking up those terms in delicious. Even more direct than a google search you will find sites that other people considered worth the read and directly related to those topics. How? Simply type in the two keywords in the search bar with a “+” in between – i.e. postmodern+mission.
Syndicate: Add the live feed to your blog. Each of your tags on the delicious account has its own rss feed. What can you do with rss? One thing: put a live list on your blog/site.
RssMix and FeedDigest are two sites that give you tools to display rss on your site as a newsbox. (i.e. in the sidebar of your blog you could have a list of your favorite links, limit it to 15 or so and as you add to your delicious account your site will always display the latest 15 sites you added.) You can even mix feeds together in one box!
(Here is a friend’s site with 6 newsboxes displaying topical favorites from delicious, a newsfeed and a list of blogs he reads.
I started using del.icio.us just over a month ago. Here is one of my favorites for a laugh (143 other people added this to their delicious collection at the time of this posting). Where is your delicious list? I’d love to find some other fun stuff to add to my collection!
Enjoy!
